E-Resources@UGC-Infonet Digital Library Consortium

The UGC-Infonet Digital Library Consortium was formally launched in December, 2003 by Honourable Dr. A P J Abdul Kalam, the President of India soon after providing the Internet connectivity to the universities in the year 2003 under the UGC-Infonet programme.

The Consortium provides current as well as archival access to more than 7500+ core and peer-reviewed journals and 10 bibliographic databases from 26 publishers and aggregators in different disciplines. The programme has been implemented in phased manner. In the first phase that began in 2004, access to e-resources was provided to 50 universities who had Internet connectivity under the UGC-Infonet Connectivity programme of the UGC.

 In the second phase, 50 more universities were added to the programme in the year 2005. So far 209 Universities including 14 National Law schools and central universities that come under the purview of UGC, have been provided differential access to subscribed e-resources. These e-resources covers almost all subject disciplines including arts, humanities, social sciences, physical sciences, chemical Sciences, life sciences, computer sciences, mathematics and statistics, etc. The programme is wholly funded by the UGC and executed by the INFLIBNET (Information and Library Network) Centre, Gndhinagar.

Koha Implementation Programme Inaugurated in Mahatma Gandhi University Library


Koha, the free Integrated Library Management Software has been installed in M.G.University Library. 
The Koha implementation programme was inaugurated by Hon’ble Pro-Vice Chancellor Dr. Sheena Shukkur on 13-8-14 in the Seminar Hall of the library at 12 pm. 
The function was presided by Prof. A.M. Thomas and welcomed by Smt. Laila T. Abraham, Deputy Librarian -in-charge of University Library. Shri. K.K. Murali, Assistant Librarian introduced Koha to the audience. 
Followed are the felicitations by Shri. K. Sheraffudin, Member Senate and leaders of the Employees organizations such as Shri. P.Padma Kumar, Shri. Jose Mathew, Shri. K. Rajagopal and Shri. Shiby V.C. 
The meeting was concluded with the vote of thanks of Smt. Annu George, Deputy Librarian of M.G.University Library.

Koha : an integrated library management system, Trial run at MG University Library.

University Library will be installing Koha: an integrated Library Mnagement System shortly by replacing the exisitng software SOUL. Then the loan period of books will be 25 days and the overdue charge will be Rs.1/day. Hence all the library members are requested to provide the following requisites for the effective implementation of the software.

1. To return the books those are remaining overdue at the earliest.

2. To report their Membership No., Name, E-Mail ID, and Mobile No. at the Library issue/return counter or send to libupdates@gmail.com.

Online Public Access Catalogue (OPAC) is availabe in the entire campus 

Users can access their account by login to OPAC using username (member ID) and password, please ask at issue/return counter for your password.
